Other performance features on the DL550-5 include a powershift transmission with, optimized hydraulic pumps, Z-bar lift arm, return to dig, limited slip rear differential, and hydraulic locking front differential.

An efficient cooling system features an all-aluminum reversible fan, rubber mounts that reduce vibration, and optional an axle cooler that prevents the oil temperature from rising to dangerously high levels. Additional features include heated mirrors with better positioning, a sun visor, and an optional rearview camera.

To reach Tier 4 emissions standards, the DL550-5 incorporates a high-pressure common-rail (HPCR) fuel delivery system as well as cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) combined with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and selective catalyst reduction (SCR).
